Conquest of mind....
Conquest of mind....by Eknath Easwaran....another classic by spiritual master....just started...no doubt it is going to open another small crevice in one's consciousness.....

"When the student is ready....teacher shows up"...at least true in my case....otherwise there was no rhyme or reason for me to lay my hands on his commentary of Bhagvadgita in Nov 2001 and be hooked to him and his teachings so closely...thanks to the higher POWER for such a solid hook that I do not even think about getting rid of it....

Cheers!

Notorious B'lore rowdy Srirampuram Kitty finished!
Topic: Underworld
Another chapter closed in B'lore's unique underworld...while growing up, sensational news about Kitty used to make waves in news papers and juicy tabloids chewed on his exploits even more...ultimately life got even with him although it is sad that it is said and widely believed that he had given up mainstream gansterims a while ago....those who live by sword die by sword.....in case of Kitty this turned out to be literally true!

BANGALORE: Rowdy Srirampura Kitty was murdered by an armed gang in a residential area in Bapujinagar on Saturday. Kitty (52), who was attacked with swords and choppers, died in hospital a few hours later.

This is the second murder of a rowdy in gang fights in the city in the last five months. 'Bekkinkannu' Rajendra was hacked to death by rivals in November last in High Grounds.

Around 7.30 pm on Saturday, a small-time rowdy Dabba Ravi and three youths from the area were extorting money from Kitty's acquaintance Yashodamma, who allegedly runs a brothel. Police said she informed Kitty over telephone about the extortion and sought help. Meanwhile, the gang took Rs 1,000 cash and snatched Yashodamma's jewellery.

A few minutes later, Kitty came on a motorcycle and confronted the gang. An altercation broke out between the gang and Kitty. Tension gripped the area after the miscreants attacked Kitty with lethal weapons and fled leaving him in a pool of blood outside Yashodamma's house. He had been stabbed in the stomach, legs and hit on the head with swords and choppers.

The police shifted him to Victoria Hospital from where he was taken to NIMHANS in a critical condition. He succumbed to injuries around 1.30 am.

Byatrayanapura police have registered a case of murder following a statement by Kitty. Police are questioning the suspects, Ravi, Kirthi, Kumar Somashekar and other locals.

Krishnoji Rao alias Srirampura Kitty, involved in murder, extortion and robbery, was rowdy-sheeted by Srirampura police on October 10, 1976. He was aged around 24 then. He gained infamy after carrying out the murder of rowdy Balaram in the Central Jail in May 1995 and also rowdy Rajendra's murder.

Kitty had led a gang which murdered two rowdies from Basaveshwarnagar and chopped their bodies into pieces before dumping them in Thippegondanahalli dam.

A police officer said Kitty, who had reigned terror in areas like Srirampura, Malleswaram and Magadi Road, was known to be associated with rowdies including Mani Bharati, Kotwal Ramachandra, M.P. Jairaj, Jedarahalli Krishna and Bekkinkannu Rajendra.

Meanwhile, the body was handed over to family after post-mortem in Victoria Hospital. Tension prevailed in Srirampura during the funeral procession taken out amid heavy police bandobast on Sunday evening.

One of the best action movies of all times.. Revees and Sandra Bullock excel....story is dragged a bit at the end...

4 stars....

Movie description below is from Netflix....
====
Finding out there's a bomb on your bus (which will explode if the driver goes slower than 50 miles per hour, no less) is never a good thing -- but if your demolitions-expert-in-shining armor turns out to be Keanu Reeves, at least you'll have a fun ride. Jan De Bont's "Die Hard on a bus" thrill-fest has all the stunts, explosions and edge-of-your-seat moments an action fan could want -- plus Sandra Bullock in her breakthrough role.
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, More
Director: Jan De Bont

Dude where is the party? ......one of those ABCD/FOB kind of movies....coming in hoards after the initial ABCD movie....Kal Penn is good but rest of the story is full of stereotypical things about ABCDs, FOBS etc. gets too boring if the same stuff is repeated.

2 stars

Coincidence with this movie is that I got two copies of the same movie....one from Netflix and other from my desi grocer....sheer coincidence....costed 2 bucks if I were to realize that this was in the mail from Netflix....I would have not gotten it from my grocer...kya karne ka?

Shabd.....hindi movie starring Sanjay Dutt, Aish Rai, JAhed Khan.....

Novel theme....but poor screen play

Saving grace is the good acting by all. Sanju is really good. Sports a real mature writer look, delivers his dialogs smoothly. Aish acts very well as the wife of the novelist....

Such a novel theme could have been scripted much much better...... hey you can not get all good to happen in 'one' Hindi movie......

Your Life Is Your Message - By Eknath Easwaran.....great book....nothing less can be expected from this spiritual mastro.....

The title has a story behind it.....Easwaran says....Once a reported asked Gandhi if Gandhi had message for the reporter to take back to people...Gandhi who was not speaking that day (mauna vrata) scribble these words on a piece of paper and handed it the reported which read "My life is my message".....

Easwaran delivers his valuable spiritual common sense in his unique style and drives home the point....

If you want to have clear perspective on life when your mind gets clouded by day to day challenges, read Easwaran's classics for 30 mins a day and tell me if it does not make a difference....

His 3 volume commentary on Bhagvadgita is the best in my opinion. 18 chapters of Gita divided into 3 great volumes.

Cheers!

Gulshan Kumar
For no particular reason I some how remember music baron Gulshan Kumar....

Gulshan Kumar made music available to common folks...whatever may be his ways....prior to his T-series, audio casettes were the monopoly of companies like HMV etc...

This, once fruit juice seller from Delhi, stormed into music world with all sort of manupulations...be it having famous singers mimicked to using underwolrd for his own ends....

When T-series came into prominence, cassettes started becoming available for Rs. 20 in 1986...even 10th std student like me could afford 1 or 2 caseettes per month using the pocket money and enjoy all music on our then famous walkmans.....

Gulshan Kumar also promoted Anuradha Paudwal and made her a famous singer....theere are many stories....to add to the gossip somehow Anuradha's first husband died under so called mysterious circumstances in Kumar's farm house......

But, Gulshan Kuamr's means did not serve his ends...his mafia connections spelled his end....he fell on the wrong side of Abu Salem and was killed in 1987......

But, he will be remembered as the one who made music available to comman man and promoted many singers like Vandana Bajpai, Babla Mehta etc.

May his soul rest in peace!

MUMBAI, MARCH 5: The State CID on Saturday arrested four Crime Branch officers in connection with the alleged custodial death of suspected bomb blast accused Khwaja Yunus.

The officers include Senior Police Inspector Praful Bhosle, Assistant Police Inspectors Hemant Desai and Rajan Vanmane and Police Sub-Inspector Ashok Khot from the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) at Ghatkopar.

The squad, according to police records, was responsible for arresting Yunus from Parbhani. However, he was later reported to have allegedly escaped from custody on Jan 7, 2003.

The theory doing the rounds in police circles is that the four officers were arrested?under instructions of the High Court?to find the missing link in Yunus?s alleged murder.

Another key suspect, Dr Abdul Mateen, has also alleged in court that he and Khwaja were detained in a Crime Branch unit at Ghatkopar.

The police had already arrested another Crime Branch officer, Sachin Vaze, early last year in connection with the case. He was acquitted after he was detained for 56 days.

? Praful Bhosle: 1983 branch sub-inspector. He is behind 82 separate encounters in the city.

? Hemant Desai: 1987 branch sub-inspector with 45 encounters on his list.

? Rajan Vanmane and Ashok Khot: Both officers are also key members of a special squad which gunned down 30 gangsters

Get this off my penis!
By: Vinod Kumar Menon
March 2, 2005

Raju Shetty?s (28) attempt to adopt an inventive method to enhance sexual pleasure landed him on the surgeon?s table yesterday.

Inspired by the fad of body piercing, the Pantnagar (Ghatkopar) resident substituted a ring with a metal nut and pushed it around his penis. Problem was, the metal stayed stubbornly stuck to his organ for over two hours.

After failing to remove the foreign body, an embarrassed Shetty decided to seek medical help and checked into the casualty ward of Rajawadi Hospital in the evening.

?I have never come across such a case in the last 12 years of my experience,? said Dr Bharati Karat, the on duty chief medical officer.

Karat said that Shetty was initially reluctant to reveal his ailment but later spoke of his situation to a male intern who examined him and came away shocked at his find.

?We decided to cut the nut, but the metal was too thick. The case was later referred to the surgeons,? said on duty assistant medical officer Dr Gopal Mahajan.

The surgeon said, ?The nut was so tight that it caused a severe swelling on the organ due to which the blood supply to that part of the anatomy was stopped. It took us almost two hours to get the nut out.

Had the patient delayed admission by few hours, we would have had to amputate the organ, as the affected area may have developed gangrene.?

Shetty told the doctors that he desired to prolong sexual pleasure and hence inserted the nut.

?This is a case of sexual perversion,? said Dr Mahajan. Another doctor said that while body piercing in delicate areas of the human anatomy had become a fad, the consequences could be alarming.

The matter was later handed over to the Pantnagar police, who visited the hospital to record Shetty?s statement.

?We wanted to know if someone else had inserted the metal or he had committed the act himself. We will register the matter in our station dairy,? said the on duty police constable.

A Thought for the Day From Sri Eknath Easwaran
----------------------------------------------

Thy desire is thy prayer; and if thy desire is without ceasing,
thy prayer will also be without ceasing. . . . The continuance of
your longing is the continuance of your prayer. - Saint Augustine

I once had a physicist friend who would gladly discuss electric power;
but harnessing the power of a passion or a craving - well, that was
not dynamics; that was poetry. "Power," he told me sternly, "is the
capacity to do work. Work is the energy required to move a definite
mass a definite distance. No movement, no work. No work, no power."

Day or night I had never seen my friend far from his desk. Then late
one evening I came out of a movie theater and saw him striding along
like an athlete, several miles from his office. "What got you up from
your desk?" I asked. "You're breaking the habits of a lifetime."

"Coffee," he muttered. "I ran out of coffee."

"Here," I said, "a very definite mass has been propelled at least
three miles, simply by one little desire for a cup of coffee."
He got my point.

Every deep desire is a prayer. Every desire also contains a certain
quantum of energy - energy to grasp the desired goal.
